Dalì Exhibition in Milan
From 22nd September 2010 to January 2011, Milan will host Salvador Dalì’s genius in an exhibition taking place at Palazzo Reale.
After 50 years , Dalì’s works are back in Milan in the exhibition “ Il sogno si avvicina” (“Dream is near”) focusing on the strong relationship between the Spanish artist and the landscape; behind the surreal figures he painted, you can notice the beautiful landscapes typical of Catalonia, just north of Barcelona, where he was born.
56 works will be exhibited on this occasion and will prove the creativity of the Catalan artist, one of the best representatives of Surrealism, but, surprisingly, there will also be works showing the experimentation by Dalì in other fields: fashion, design and cinema. In this field, particularly, you can admire Destino, the short animated cartoon made in cooperation with Walt Disney and never shown before.
This short cartoon was made when Dalì worked for Disney, in 1945, and tells about a journey in which the painter accompanies a girl who’s looking for her beloved through surreal landscapes.
The project was brought back to life only in 2003, when it was produced by Disney’s nephew, and will now be included in the Blu-Ray DVD "Fantasia 2000", coming in November.
The Hotel Milano Scala, only 10 minutes on foot from Palazzo Reale, has special offers for a very special stay in Milan.
Location: Palazzo Reale - Piazza Duomo 12, Milan - Milano
